Wednesday, November 02, 2011

On Monday, November 14 at 5pm I'll be part of the panel "So you want to be an artist..." at the University of Texas Permian Basin art department in Odessa, Texas.  Marfa artist Gretchen Coles will be the moderator and I'll be speaking along with Mary Baxter and Vilis Inde.

Also, I recently joined the Big Bend Arts Council's Gallery on the Square where you can see my latest paintings. The gallery is located here in Alpine on 115 W. Holland Avenue and is open six days a week from 10am-6pm (the gallery is closed Tuesdays). It will also be open for Art Walk on November 18-19, 10am-10pm.

History of Fort Leaton Article
There's a nice article in the new Cenizo Journal (Third Quarter 2011) about a number of watercolor paintings I created. Towards the end of 2010, Texas Parks and Wildlife asked me to illustrate scenes from the history of Fort Leaton to be featured in an education video, out later this year.

In the meantime, here's a link to the magazine, where you can read the article. Once the video is released I'll post more of the paintings online.

Matilda Beatrix Wilde
Matilda Beatrix Wilde was born to us in May of this year. Megan and I are very happy parents.

Artwalk 2010
Here's a selection of the new paintings I've created for Artwalk here in Alpine. They're my first oils and I really like how luminous they seem compared to acrylic paint. You can view a PDF pricelist here.

This year I'll be sharing space at Elms Bookkeeping, 108 N 5th Street with Alan Vannoy and Tony Gonzalez.
