Illustrations for The Writers Guide to Fiction, Kalmbach Publishing, 2007
Below is a selection of the artwork I created for a special issue of The Writer Magazine. The artwork, all acrylic paint on card, illustrated certain themes the publication dealt with.

Interior of a writer's office. This is actually the writing studio of the historian Lonn Taylor in Fort Davis, Texas.

Writer's equipment. Tools I suspect writers may use when researching. Except for the large SLR camera - I felt it just looked more like a traditional camera.

Creating Complex Characters. Really an excuse to paint some of the pretty landscape here.

The Advantages of Outlining. The path on the left is a little more wild and 'risky' whereas the right is more ordered and straight.

Give your story meaning. Tricky to conceptualize the idea of mixing story and theme into your writing but I think this illustrated the idea.

Opening Lines. Visual representation of one of those books that draws you in.

Pace. A speeding car following letters - simple but fun to paint.
